This Year Theme 2016
The theme of Fest’Napuan 2016 is “Independence in the Pacific: What we have achieved and what we are still fighting for.” Artists and peaceful activists from across the region will come to Fest’Napuan to highlight issues relating to the self-determination of Pacific peoples including the struggle for political independence in places such as West Papua, Kanaky Nouvelle-Calédonie, Tahiti, Hawai’i and Rapa Nui. This year’s theme will also address challenges that arise after political independence is achieved, based on the experiences of nations such as Fiji, Solomons Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. Fest’Napuan’s theme was proposed by the Wansolwora Dance movement and is supported regionally by the Pacific Conference of Churches (PCC), the Pacific Islands Association of NGOs (PIANGO), and Bismarck Ramu Group.
